All in a Day's Work

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 5; the fifth edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton.

Note:- 99 Fiction infers to fictional writings bounded to a maximum of ninety-nine words.

" The physiological erosion of human body notwithstanding, i am expected to perform at peak, at all times of the day and night (when the temperature is often lower than minus 30 degrees Celsius) for a span of 18 months. Yet, indeed, i fully measure up to that challenge, always. My smile, pride and commitment  does not wane despite the crushing psychological stress of remaining self-motivated and the inevitable debilitation to my genetically inherited physical prowess. It is all in a day's work, every day. I wake up so that others can sleep peacefully. Anyway, I am an Indian soldier at Siachin "

PS : Siachin glacier's region is the highest battleground on earth, where India and Pakistan have fought intermittently since April 1984. To read more on Siachin, click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siachen_Glacier

Mahesh, you have to change the title to "All in a Day's work"... like everyone else... telling you before the Marshal does! :)
The idea of the post is really good!

Mahesh Aadhya Kalal said...

@ Guria,

Thanks a lottttttttt for the timely correction. I was so impacted by the topic that no word other than"spirit" came to my mind.
Thanks again :)

Guria said...

The name of your topic was very apt. You couldn't have put more into the 99 words. It has a lot of impact. You should also read Madhu's post, it is on similar lines.
Great work, Mahesh! :)

Mahesh Aadhya Kalal said...

@ Guria....

Thanks for your genuine response and you have echoed my intention behind writing those 99 words.
You said "It has a lot of impact.".......
Thanks a bunch for those words. I mean it. I am really elated that the first response is so impacting.

Hey as Guria said, you could have still added lots of points for 99 words! When awesome impact can be given through 55 words, lot more can be given through 99words! But still, the topic u choose got u my claps!!

P.S : I gave mt honest comment! Not to depress u!

Nice story. I kinda live in a Siachen glacier but of course, I don't spend more than a couple of hours outdoors so that makes all the difference in the world!

Hi Mahesh.

What a pithy piece in just 99 words and a super tribute to the men on the border. Yeah we do forget that they do such a tireless and mostly thankless job. :)

@ Mahesh

Truly touched with the apt concerns and reflection.
But your post did not only remind me of Siachen but also of Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh) peaks.

I have seen that place in my childhood and was complete mesmerised with the facts and happenings of the place.
1965 war of Indo-Shino, still posses many hooks to visit and feel.

Those hills full of bunkers and climate constraint are the reminder to an urge to respect!
I'm glad that you made an effort in your won creative way to put some light on it.

Your fiction is complete with the compact compassion, care and concern!

A sincere alute to our soldiers! And a complete Bow to you for your bright effort!!

Keep the spark Alive!

Madman said...

Thats a neat trick buddy 55 fiction into 99 fiction. I personally feel it was little unpredictable and that is essence of short fictions. I bet you could fit everything in a 55 fictions thats why you chose 99 fiction

Makk said...

Cool..or rather chilled...with winters of Siachin ...
