Free-55 Fiction

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 23; the twenty-third edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. The theme for this month is FREE.

Note:- 55 Fiction infers to fictional writings bounded to a maximum of 55 words.

We got freedom.
We have freedom....
.......
Freedom to express and choose .
                 to exploit and suppress.
                 to adapt and evolve.
                 to dilute and corrupt.
                 to have Religion
to be slaves of Globalization ...

Freedom for Farmers to drink pesticides
                 for Tribes to convert
                 for Corporates to suck

But we forgot that our freedom was not for Free

Escape

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 10; the tenth edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton.

Note:- This post is a pseudo-77 Fiction

Escape

I was standing at the river bank with a female body at my feet...

You don’t need to study medicine to know how she had died...

She died when a metal rod  repeatedly hit her head so hard  that her brain popped out of  her skull...

I wasn’t anxious to call a doctor, as at the time one end of the rod was cracking her skull, the other end happened to be in my hands....
......................
..............
.......

Wait...... read the story again with the following roles  :

                          I            - Capitalist Corporate
               She         - Earth
               Rod         - Consumerism
           Doctor     - Conscience
        River       - Evolution

Now, rather than thinking, " Who is escaping here?", .....
It would be better to ask , " Who is allowing the Escape to happen?"
Escape happens every second........ to us, with us, by us and around us......  and hence impacting us ..... and finally to erase us!!!
We can Escape easily from the responsibility of Escape with the help of numbers and statistics, but we cannot escape from the Wisdom of Nature.

PS : Intelligence is not an end in itself, it is one of the means to reach the ends.

Farmers and Corporate India

Consider a family of 10 people with 1000 rupees monthly income . They have two choices.

1. Everyone in the family gets a share of 100 rupees
2. Only 2 people get 900 rupees and remaining 8 have to share the left over 100 rupees.

Which choice do you support ?

Ideally speaking, in an Utopian voice, everyone of us will vote for first choice. Yes, It is easy to choose than to act. But, practically we have been flooded with the benefits and luxuries of fat salaries as the family of India had chosen the second choice of conscious partiality and bias towards the few lakhs corporate people over crores of farmers, since two decades. Ironically we are too busy in branded socialising and accumulating branded e-dump that we have never bothered about the remaining, who have been struggling for survival and existence, since 2 decades.

Rarely mentioned are the massive subsidies, now larger than ever before, for the Corporate sector. This year alone, the budget gifts over Rs. 500,000 crore in write-offs, direct and indirect, to the Big Boys(Corporate Sector). That's Rs. 57 crore every single hour on average — almost a crore a minute. Beating last year's Rs. 30 crore an hour by more than 70 per cent. (Ref: Tables 5 and 12 of the “Statement of Revenue Foregone” section of the budget.)

So, is it clear how India is producing Billionaires year after year ? How the Corporate Ship floats on the Fat-salary Syndrome? Who is responsible for the 2 lakh farmers suicides in india since 1997? The number is drastically many times more than the people died in terrorist activities? Isn't the issue more serious than terrorism. Is development at the cost of millions of lives valid, meaningful and Justified ? What is the meaning of having a notion of one country? We are living in the green pastures of golden illusion that we deserve every penny we have earned. But ...

  • There is hunger, starvation and death of thousands of hapless farmers behind every corporate luxury and aplomb. There is a painful cry, exploitation and injustice behind every lavish penny we are spending in this consumerist  electronic lifestyle. There are mass hungers, starvations and malnutritioned child deaths behind every urbanised superiority complex attitude. There are many hidden, untold tragedies and suicides on every currency note we spend affluently with pride.
  1. Why do the so called self proclaimed corporate tech savvy intellectuals and genius professionals need monetary concessions every year?(Rs. 57 crore every single hour in 2010 )
  2. Why do pesticides kill more farmers than pests in India?
  3. Why do we conveniently ignore our indirect role in this corporate gambling ?(Oh k k ....fat salaries?)
  4. Why do corporate people  get concessions and monetary benefits every year where as farmers get loan waiver only once in two decades ? (Party Funds???
  5. Why don't the media talks about them(Oh! Corporate Media!)?
  6. Who is exploiting and plundering the innocents in the name of globalisation and corporate capitalism and finally calling it development? (?????)
  7. Why do the so called elite-modern-educated need a special financial platforms? Are they intellectually handicapped?
  8. Why a farmer, the food giver, starves and begs for the same food he had produced?
  9. Who is ruling India as of now, ultimately, in the name of globalisation ?

BTW, Why the tree of India is cutting down its own roots just because it has got colourful flowers and delicious fruits ???

Do we really care?
Are we ready to take the call of  social revolution and the responsibility ?
Are we ready for sacrifices and radical reforms?

We may shrug of these social differences simply by saying that we are not directly responsible for them  . Yeah, go for an easy way. Lets start blaming the politicians. Yes, we should even stop uttering pompous slogans like "Hamara Bharath Mahan". It is better to say "Mera Lifestyle Mahan".
It was shocking and shivering when the Pink Slip Syndrome stroked us last year. Imagine the plight of those volatile farmers who have been facing the Pink slips for LIFE every year, since 1991.

I would like to end  with.......
"We can wake up a person who is sleeping, but we cannot wake up a person who pretends to be sleeping "
..........
.......
Anyway,
Lets have Happy Hallucinations in the proverbial Frog's Well .
Worried about Hike?

                                         ------------()------------

Notes : (Source : The Hindu, March 1)
1. An incentive to repay loans on time — which millions of farmers cannot do — is being passed off as an additional subsidy to the aam kisan in this budget. And there is still an air of self-congratulation on the Rs. 70,000-crore farm loan waiver of 2008. A one-off waiver that comes once in so many decades.
2 .Yet revenue foregone in this budget in direct tax concessions to corporate tax payers is close to Rs. 80,000 crores. It was over Rs. 66,000 crore last year. And Rs. 62,000 crore the year before that. In all, Rs. 2,08,000 crores of direct freebies in 36 months.
3. Consider that this loot-and-grab sortie has been on for two decades now. It means that in direct tax freebies alone the corporate sector has had the equivalent of some 15 'farm loan waivers' since 1991. Then there's the indirect stuff. In this year's budget: Revenue foregone in excise duty — Rs. 1,70,765 crores. Customs duty — Rs.2,49,021 crores. Together with the Rs.80,000 crore in direct write-offs, the total nears Rs. 500,000 crores.

GREEN DEEDS

Happy New Year, 2010.
Hope, you had all the new year's flavours, aromas, wishes, entertainment, cultural activities, refreshment, fun and frolic etc. New Calendars? BTW, How did the parties and celebrations went off? Colourful/Exciting/Blast/Rockin? Were they Green too?

Yeah, i mean it. How much we have been contributing to the ever incrementing global warming by these celebrations on various occasions, year long? We all of us know very well that, not only celebrations, every human deed results in the gradual extinction of many species, daily. Wait, I am not asking every one to become a saint and stop partying/celebrating. If we are responsible to the mounting Global Warming phenomenon, knowingly or unknowingly, by the usage of non-biodegradable things and burning fossil fuels through our daily activities , then isn't it our responsibility to compensate for the inevitable damage we are causing to the Environment in which WE live.

Any new resolutions in New Year?
How about having one more?
Shall we try "Green Deeds" ?

Yes. Green Deeds. You might have got the gist of this topic by now.
I strongly feel that the obvious failure of Copenhagen summit(Climate Change) necessitates to retrospect our role and responsibilities before passing the buck to other entities. I would like to propose an idea to deal with the number of carbon foot prints we are leaving behind whenever we succumb ourselves to consumerism .

As every  activity, from partying to blogging, results in a certain amount of  plastic waste or consuming any fuel/energy/power that causes global warming, we can make the activity as GREEN by planting a sapling to minimise the damage/impact, if not finding a solution. It is quite simple. You can choose, like, for how many activities/deeds you will plant a sapling. It can be one sapling per one activity or one sapling per 4 activities, depending on one's convenience. The choice is yours.  It is highly flexible .  We have to start somewhere, right?
Think once....

1. How about adding a plant along with the gift on any/every occasion?
2. How about planting a sapling/saplings as a memory to our recent trip?
3. How about having at least one Green weekend per month?
4. How about having 11 plantations whenever India wins a series or your favourite player performs?
5. How about saying a Green Sorry?
6. How about having a plant on every success in our life?
7. How about Green Festivals/Green Cinemas/Green Works/Green Jobs?
8. How about converting all get-togethers/Meetings/Parties/Trips/Journeys/Weekends/Holidays etc into "Green Visits"?
9. How about "Green Shopping" (one plant per 1000/10000  etc )? What say?
10. We may have Green Friends/Relationships too....
11.Finally, how about Green Blogs/posts. One plant per one post/5 posts/one Blogaton etc??

Similarly,
Green Studies...... 1 plant per one semester/academic year
Green Careers.....1 plant per appointment/bonus/onsite/promotion etc
Green Bike.....1 plant per 100/500/1000 km etc
Green Aims...... 1 plant for one Aim/Goal/Dream
Green Waste...... 1 plant per 1month/100 days/1 year etc
Green Books...... 1 plant per 1 book/10 books
Green LOVE....... You know it.
Green Homes.......Is your balcony empty?
Green Gadgets.....1 plant per PC/Laptop/mobile, per year
Green Music.......1 plant per 100/200 albums etc

I hope the questions, like, Is your Job Green? Is your life Greener? Is this Green Party? Do you have Green Memories? Is your PC green Is your blog Green/Are you a Green Blogger?  ....etc will become part of our lives soon.

So Friends, what do you say? Will you join me and spread this flavour of "Greenism" ?
I am leaving few ideas for you. I would like to have suggestions from you, which i will add in this post, eventually, to make it more comprehensive and pragmatic.
 Any Green Thoughts ?
Lets, WE, together make this new year a......
Happy GREEN New Year :)

PS: This post is a Green Post :) :) :)

Kaaveri

Kaaveri is a quite cute and delightfully pretty gal. She is 7 years old. She is good at studies and aims to become doctor in future. Today is very special for her. Yes, her birthday. She is awaiting for this particular day since months. Her parents have planned everything. She has been discussing with her friends about the way every second has to  be spent on this day. Her mother did wake her up with a warm hug, a sweet kiss and lovely greetings.  She got dressed up in a beautiful white skirt.

Kaaveri is looking like an angel. Her dad and her brother wished her in their own ways with lots of exclusive  gifts showering upon. Kaaveri do swims in the love ocean of her family, always.  She tasted her favourite sweet . She is more eager to be at school than at her home. Everything is  happening as she expected. The school bus came.  She took the chocolate box, kissed her mom and rushed towards the bus to catch the expected cheer ups from her friends. She is more interested in the celebration time at school, rather than at her home.
The journey to her school was filled with sensuous feelings, thoughts and expectations . She loves her school very much. Kaaveri becomes emotional regarding any aspect of school, be it teachers, play ground, uniform, shoes, books, home work, exams, friends, birthdays, marks, pats, smiles, fun, playing,  Meanwhile,  the bus reached the school. She entered the school premises with a sense of belongingness. She loves her friends a lot.

When she entered the classroom, everything did happen as per her expectations, as if it is scripted. She was bit blushing with the loving compliments and pleasantly surprised greetings. She did grab every inch of attention, may be because she is topper of the class too. She did feel the pinch of priority among her friends on that day.  She never felt her classroom so soothing and concerned about her. She distributed chocolates to everyone in the classroom and she did remember every greeting wished by her classmates. Her classroom means a lot to her, almost, a family.

She is waiting for the best moment of her day. Her wait ended as her favourite teacher 'Krishnaveni' madam entered the class. Kaaveri admires and reveres her teacher her a lot, more than god. She is madam's favourite student.  Kaaveri was approaching 'Krishnaveni' madam to give chocolates and to take  blessings from her. Exactly, when she was bowing to touch her madam's feet, Kaveri heard someone shouting at her in a  harsh and loud voice, "Kaaaaavereeeee, wake up, it is already 6...quick.....wash the utensils and clean the flour....Kaaavereee .....  today is Neha's birthday, make it fast". Kaaveri woke up in a hurry and felt disappointed with her favourite incomplete dream. She is habituated, she dreams it regularly, day and night. What else a child labour like Kaaveri can do other than dreaming. She even don't know that she is a child labour. She is too small and innocent to know about the legal Rights and constitutional stuff. She neither knows her birthday nor her parents.  All she knows is hungry, insecurity, fear, hard-work besides few hopes and sweet dreams.

I wish, Kaaveri will dream about someone coming forward to take the responsibility of making her childhood bit better, bit cheerful, bit colourful and bit meaningful. Thank God(Where is he? Enjoying his Script?), at least she has got the  liberty to dream...... Just look around. Many Kaaveris are desperately in need of us, the so called elite, educated, developing Indians.

Any Kaaveri at your home or at your friends/relatives homes???
We, together, can definitely contribute more, than writing and reading.

"Happy Birthday, Kaaveri"

Shame

I came across this poem  written by a 12year old girl whose father molested her for around four years and she had no one to complain and protect her . I read it in my friend's blog (http://whysoserioustoday.blogspot.com ) . Initially i was thinking to comment on this. I had so much anguish that i wanted to vent it on my blog in my words.

***  In the recent survey it is stated that around 53% children in India are the victim of child abuse.

Half the children in our country are in HELL.

I don't know what to say and what to write. Because just writings are not enough. We need actions, stringent, commited, immediate , at least voice and moral support.

Which adjective and which language can reflect and convey the agony behind the tears of those tender buds? Is there something like language of humanity? I do not know how many silent tears are feeling shy, every second, to come out of those innocent eyes, secretly, isolated, alone,  flowing through the cheeks of humiliation and vanishing into the well of depression . Its hard to understand how those tiny hands are consoling those fearsome eyes when they wipe the lava of emotional volcano.

What's happening in the land of "Pithrudevobhava"??.
Is this all our Education, manners, culture, IT,  Super power dreams, vision 2020,??? Why are we boasting ourselves so much.  In the rat race of materialistic consumerism we are shedding our clothes of human bonds and sentiments . Is it because of our irrational obsessions.??

The arrogant virus of individuality has crept so much into the  brains that even the virus has started hating the human race. The world is so obsessed with the train of globalisation in order to reach the station of development, that, the societal, cultural, moral, ethical values are getting limited to books and blogs. Such pathetic incidents on kids do indicate that the evolution of human degradation has started. I wish the angel of global warming will wipe out the virus of human race as early as possible.

Do we need to change the meaning of father, brother, sister, daughter, uncle in the dictionary of relationships ?
Do we need machines that scan every glance, every touch, every kiss, every intention of adults towards kids?

We can't keep making laws for each and every immoral act happening within the family boundaries and bondings?. We are badly missing the moral education. All we know is technical education. We speak the language of money, language of success, language of computers, language of fame, language of being western, language of development, language of blah blah blah.....We have become so mechanical that we  may need to get programmed in order to respond.

Or, do we need Deprogramming/reprogramming?

It may sound extremes for you. Yes, I am angry, indeed, frustrated. I want to respond, on behalf of those hapless kids and tainted blossoms. I am going to. I have to. We have to. We should , we must, we will.

What shall be done?
Where shall we start?
Will you come forward, friends?

(* I thank Suga for providing me an opportunity to write an intense topic)

55 words # 1

Note:- 55 Fiction infers to fictional writings bounded to a maximum of fifty-five words.

Enough

We have seen enough rains and floods.
We have watched enough visuals in news channels regarding the plight of the victims. We have criticized enough, the loopholes of Indian administration and disaster management. We have passed enough comments about the responsibilities of Government. Now, we have enough time to act.
Please, DONATE and Contribute, NOW !!!.

Expressions

I was in second standard when i had a peculiar feeling to say those special words to our English teacher. I never concentrated on what she taught in the class, but I used to observe how she taught. Somehow, I had conveyed her those three words when I was in ninth... , "I Love You, Mom ".

Waiting

She was waiting for him since fifteen minutes. He was quite handsome and manly. She knew that he would definitely come to talk with her, though it is a public place . Her wait ended as he had approached her and looking into her beautiful eyes, he said in a gentle and mild voice, "Ticket Please... "

Taste of Life

He is thinking about his strong and intense desire to taste that drink. Many of his friends have tasted it. He thought about his wife and kids for a while. But, he felt, this is the right time in his life to taste it. So, finally he drank it , the pesticide, Indian farmer's favourite drink.

Writing

I was thinking.
I was thinking about my strong desire.
I was thinking about my strong desire to write.
I was thinking about my strong desire to write a topic
I was thinking about my strong desire to write a topic in exactly 55 words.
My thinking did work and I am done with many.
